With Nintendo Switch Online you can "travel" or visit another island belonging to a friend with your resident.
If the 3 users "Q, W & E" are now on console A, and user "W" wants to go to another island, then Switch Online must be registered to console user "Q" or "W", since the island is different from everyone else Inhabitants of the island of user "Q" is. In order to travel to another island you need the online stuff, and that is available for each account on the switch individually. So if you have online access to account A then you can only go to another island with the account and not with B and C. Unfortunately, I myself have no experience of what it is like when someone visits your island. But it may well be that for others only the account with internet access on the island is shown and the others are not.
Imagine you have a brother and he has a switch. You have an account on his switch.
Your brother has an island on Animal Crossing and owns Switch Online.
Now you want to visit a school friend with your account via his island, via his switch, for example via the online mode. Do you need your own Switch Online subscription or do you have your brother's subscription because it's the same island?

You need your own subscription if you want to go online with your own account.
I understand what you mean, however, a single subscription is valid for one user, so user A can then travel but not b, so the family subscription would be more worthwhile.
