Ps4 controller charging station defective?

I bought a charging station for my controllers at Game Stop. I connected it with the included USB power cable, but when switched on it only lights up orange for a short time and then blue. Otherwise nothing happens afterwards nothing lights up and nothing loads can it be that you have to change something in the settings for this to work?

Yes, that's what happened to me once. Zap, different cable used and it was partially lit continuously.

If the worst comes to the worst, can I send it back even if I bought it in the store?

It depends on how long you've had this. I think you can send it back within 14 days. Call there.
