People I'm desperate…
I bought a gaming monitor from MSI (optix mpg27cq2) with WQHD resolution (2560x1440), 144 HZ, 1MS. In the hope that the fun with the ps5 console will be unique.
The connection on the monitor was disappointing, as the console ONLY shows Full HD (1920x1080) 60HZ.
I thought about getting a DP / HDMI cable but then researched for a long time that it is not possible at all. Because the cable only transmits data in one direction. (From DP> HDMI) but I need the possibility that the transmission goes in both directions as well as HDMI> DP.
😩😩😩
I'm ready to sell the monitor I bought again!
I don't even get what you're talking about with energy flow?
With what kind of cable is the PS5 currently connected?
Data transmission = energy flow 👍🏼
quite normal with the hdmi 2.1 cable
Okay that shouldn't be a problem then.
Have you adjusted the screen accordingly and / or the PS5?
Do you mean no problem with the DP-HDMI cable? That I reach a higher resolution? Monitor is set to 1920x1080 and you can't change it (i.e. Not with the console)
DP-HDMI? Displayport and HDMI are different cables. HDMI 2.1 is not supported at all for most monitors, so it's no wonder that you don't get the settings you want.
If you want the 120hz, for which you probably bought the 144hz screen, I would use a displayport as a cable. But you can easily find this out by googling. So when you're so desperate, I would have thought you'd been a little more concerned with it. If the monitor has WQHD and 144hz then it can't be on the screen, i.e. It has to be on the cable, because the PS5 brings the performance.
So the monitor probably just doesn't support HDMI 2.1 technology.

Small excerpt from the link:
Unfortunately, you are currently still unlucky if you are looking for a suitable HDMI 2.1 monitor for your console. The standard is only just beginning to establish itself on TV sets. […] We could now simply wait until the monitors are on the market that already have HDMI 2.1 - until then we would be wrongly limiting our new consoles. […] Another possibility: you use the DisplayPort connection mentioned above. 4k @ 120 is after all not an absolute novelty in the PC sector, here one has been dealing with 144 Hz monitors upwards for a long time
I know that the monitor has no HDMI 2.1 connection. It has the current hdmi 2.0 connection. I would like to scale the resolution higher but that is not possible! "2160p not supported" is in the PS menu (Settings). Although the WQHD should do 2560X1440! I also know that not many games are currently capable of 120HZ (except for COLDWAR).
I'm about the resolution 😒
with my friend who also has a WQHD, for example. Is it possible to select the "2160p"… And for me it only shows full hd 1920x1080
And your friend uses the same cable?
Yes, he also uses the original ps5 hdmi 2.1 cable on his monitor. Up here I uploaded again in picture (DP HDMI). Hope this will bring something

So your monitor is listed here so it should be able to "2k".
Have you ever played around in the settings on your monitor and checked whether you can change anything there? With the monitor you also have a menu. For example, I can switch a game mode on and off with mine, etc. Perhaps yours has this console mode or something similar.
That's it… I don't have this console mode 😒 can only switch and select between "User" "egoshooters" "RTS" in gaming mode. Wait, I'll take a picture and post it here
And my monitor is unfortunately not listed among the monitors that have this option 👎🏼
All settings gone through whether something can be changed?
And nothing works in the settings of the PS5?
Ah oops then I read it wrong. But I'm sure that it has to work somehow. Before you send it back, I would definitely try a Displayport cable.
Yes I ordered that. Do you see that in the post above? I added the picture of the cable
Sending back is no longer possible. Even beyond the 14-day return period… 😩
Yes saw it.
I posted another one and that takes away the remaining hope that it will work 😩
Oh yes, trying to help on the Internet is always complicated. But I think it would be very strange if an msi screen were not able to display the 1440p. It has to work somehow.
Ok, now I googled again and the following is the case.
The PS5 itself doesn't offer a 2k, which I somehow took for granted. It's very strange. With the PS5 only Full HD and 4k is possible if I understand that correctly.
Some monitor providers (whom I sent before) offer so-called downsampling, i.e. They practically make 4k to 2k.
Yours doesn't seem to be there.
Personally, I think it's mega funny because WQHD looks better than FullHD but could still deliver far more stable fps than 4k. I don't understand why this was not implemented, especially since WQHD monitors are even more affordable than 4k screens. But Sony probably thought most of them would gamble on TV anyway.
Annoying thing. Maybe there will be a software update for the PS5 at some point.
What I still don't understand is why you don't get at least 120hz but only 60hz, because with FullHD your PS5 should at least run constantly at 120fps.
Yes, I'm at the end of my game too… I put the monitor on the Internet for sale. Will buy me a 4K monitor 🤷🏻♂️ Too bad. The thing is brand new but unfortunately useless for console gamers. For the PC world, however, one of the best monitors.
