Does it cost more power when I wake the PS4 from sleep mode or when I turn it off and on again?

sc

If you turn it off and on again, you need less power than if it is in sleep mode for a comparatively long time.

lo

Turning them on and off costs more electricity than just growing them up.

But of course you use electricity in sleep mode, and not when it is off. Therefore, it is not equally worthwhile for everyone, it depends on how long you don't use it.

lo

This is wrong. When booting up, a lot has to be loaded into the RAM, which is relatively time-consuming.

If you don't use it for a short time, the sleep mode is more worthwhile.

sc

I wrongly phrased the answer, have now corrected it.

lo

Yes, that's more logical now.

Gr

I would once claim that the total energy consumption when switching on is smaller than in sleep mode if you do not use the Playstation for a few hours, e.g. Overnight.

If you are only away for an hour, the sleep mode might be more economical, although I don't know the exact power consumption of the PS4 in this mode.

Personally, I only use sleep mode when downloading updates.

lo

Sleep mode does not use much.

8 watts if USB charging is activated, otherwise 3.

So 3 watts normally.

It's been worth it for a while. But certainly not if it's for days or something.

Gr

Well then there's still the question of how much energy starting up consumes more than waking up from sleep mode and then you can calculate the time. But I think it will be a couple of hours until waking up is a little better.

But I'm also of the opinion that the differences will not be of great importance if the thing is not on standby 24/7.

lo

When she does something she uses 80 watts. If it takes 20 seconds for a full start, that would be 0.88Wh.

If you just grow it up it hardly costs any time. So, waking up probably consumes 0.8Wh less.

If you assume 3 watts in standby, then it's worth it for just under 20 minutes.

Would have guessed an hour or two.

Without having measured, the point up to which it is worthwhile is probably between 10 and 40 minutes.

Gr

I would estimate that too, yes.

Whereby the 80W is of course probably the ingame power, which is greater than the power consumption when booting.

so

I would just hang a power meter in between. If the current is too small for this, a multimeter with the setting AC A is used. Then you have exact values.
