Is it worth it to get a PS4 Pro in 2019?

I'm just thinking about getting a PS4 (Pro) but I'd like to ask if it's still worth it, because supposedly 2019 PS5 should come out. Shall I wait? Many games will probably not be released to the PS5 anyway so I would have to wait until "compatible" games come out. What do you think?

The PS5 does not come before 2020. And I'd rather have a mature, quiet, sleek PS4 than a first-time PS5 that gets hot, comes in a bulky box and still has all the teething problems, and then you pay a fortune.

"as a first-time PS5 that gets glowing hot, comes in a bulky box"

Oh, you already have details?

Pa

I learned from the past. Take a look at the first PS1, PS2 and PS3, which have been available. Or the Xboxes, which failed like the flies because of overheating.

A really difficult question. We talk about a time horizon of half to 2.5 years until the new generation comes. The question is: is it worth spending 350 (better: 300) euro for this (possibly short) period?

Have my PS4 Pro now for 1.5 years and am very satisfied. The game selection is huge and of course it will not be so in the beginning of the PS5 (unless it is backwards compatible, but that is still in the stars).

There were really problems with the PS3. But especially now in the recent past (X1, X1S, PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, X1X) that was not an issue.

I think it's still worth it, as the PS5 is still in development and there are still no signs of a release. In any case, the PS5 is unlikely to be available before 2020.

The aspect of the initially low selection of games is also a point that speaks rather for the purchase of a ps4. Just as the initial bugs, which are likely to overwhelm the PS5 initially, speaks for a later purchase of the next gen.

If necessary, a used PS4, which is still in good shape.

The PS4 Slim is already the new edition of the PS4, in which the same performance is achieved with more modern components and therefore requires less heat and volume. So a mature version of the PS4. It's not much different with the PS4 Pro, because they've just put a bigger hard drive in it and drilled up the processing power to make it 4K. But in principle this is just a remake of the old PS4.

With a PS5 that would be different. This will be a completely new machine that will be built on the sidelines of what is technically feasible at an affordable price. (Of course, PC criteria can't be applied, but with a good gaming PC, the graphics card alone costs as much as a whole console with all the trimmings.)

Later, there will be new versions of the PS5, which you can buy without hesitation and will not be so expensive. But right on show I would not get in there.

Apart from that, it is not necessary at all. I can't believe how great even my old PS3 looks on my new 4K TV. Since one is always well served with a PS4 and has an infinite number of games, which usually already have a decent Patchstand and not cost so much.
