Why are video games often misrepresented or people playing video games?

People who play video games are often portrayed as lazy nerds who do nothing but squat in front of the screen all day long.

Why is gaming socially often not recognized?

Why are video games often dismissed as a waste of time?

In the past, I used to often hear the phrase, "Why do not you gscheits" from my mother when I played PlayStation.

Why is it OK for some people to look after school or work some kind of mental thin whistle on TV (AssiTV / RTL / …), but then video games pretend to be stupid?

In my opinion, gaming promotes social behavior, you learn something (logical thinking, improved eye / hand coordination, etc.).

In addition, it does not logically make any difference to me, as I, for example, consume a story. For example. Can I read The Lord Rings as a book, watch the movies, or play as a video game? The book as a medium would be socially recognized, as the movies or video games. But why?

I hope you can understand what I mean. Would like to read your opinion.

Bring nothing in your life. It's just virtual stuff.

In my opinion, gaming promotes social behavior, you learn something (logical thinking, improved eye / hand coordination, etc.).

There are things that can be improved by gambling, such as reaction time and what you call logical reasoning.

Whether the eyes improve… Well.

When something happens, you always need a scapegoat, and that sometimes hits the gamer. The clichés often come from sources such as BILD or RTL and they are always looking for the absolute worst examples, tearing things out of context, researching insufficiently or not at all and lying until the bars bend just to be shocked and get attention or money to earn. There will always be social groups being excluded, just to create some enemy image / leper to distract people from real problems and real enemies.

I'm a gamer myself and have already experienced that. This is related to the current genration.

It was sold to our parents as children's toys.

We see it as a hobby. The grandparents "did not have" that, so it's not good anyway.

That's the positive thing about changing times. That's going to change.

Just as the CDU has more and more problems getting new voters, the "ANTI Gamer" will die out as well

But at one point I have to enter:

In my opinion, gaming promotes social behavior, you learn something (logical thinking, improved eye / hand coordination, etc.).

It is called the called (logical thinking, improved eye / hand coordination, etc. But as for the social behavior, I must contradict you.

be

Social behavior may even be promoted in THEORY, as THEORETICAL plays mostly in a team and has to rely on the other, etc.

In practice, unfortunately, it just does the opposite.

Ub

As a single player not at all, that's why I would say, rather the opposite.

Bu

Why exactly do you contradict the thesis?

For example, I like to play late in the evening with friends (whom I also know in real life) online. I think that promotes teamwork and social behavior in general, or strengthens the bond with friends. For example. If you meet at the weekend, go drink something together and make an appointment during the week for a gambling night. For me that's already reinforced social behavior.
Of course there's the opposite, vll. Did you mean that. For example. Who trolls who insult people in online games, etc.

Ub

You are also playing with friends.

Just go to a public Teamspeak server for example Fortnit and you understand why I speak again of the thesis.

The little promotion of social behavior is very much outweighed by trolling, misogynist or racist behavior

Bu

Okay, you're right. This is true for a mostly (very young) part of the gamer community. 10-15 years ago, I was partly no exception. But would not say that applies to all players. Is always a bit on the age / education / level of education.

Ub

I agree with you now again. Of course I did not mean all, but who has ever played overcooed with the best friends knows about life (of course, is a little joke)
