Would you then rather use a Ryzen 7 (Ryzen 7 3700x + B450 motherboard and just 16gb ram in). Nen Intel setup doesn't really make much sense. What hardware did you still use?
Sry deepened… But I still have 16GB RAM from Corsair with 3000mhz speed (DDR3) and a GTX 770 Windforce with 4 GB.
I would build a new PC straight away, you can't do much with the GTX 770 either. Sure it's DDR3 RAM? 3000Mhz DDR3 RAM cost a fortune back then.
You could buy an i7 4790, but would then rather recommend a new mainboard with a Ryzen CPU. If you want to save a lot, you can get a Ryzen Gen 1 1700x with 16GB Ram for about 350 euro as a finished PC on ebay, but you would need a new power supply and a different graphics card. Otherwise I would rather go for the Ryzen Gen 3 3600 Or guess 3700 (if you want to spend the money and need the performance) or if you can still wait, wait for Ryzen Gen 4, the 5000 series.
The Ryzen 3600 and 3700 are even more powerful and energy efficient, they only need 65W compared to the 1700x (95W).
The 3700X also needs ~ 95 watts. Only the Ryzen 5 3600 (non x) and the Ryzen 3 need 65 watts. In my opinion, it makes a lot more sense than staying on the platform.
Kp what you smoke, but the TDP is specified with 65 watts for the 3700x, which it can pull more through turbo is like that with almost every newer CPU

There are no 8-core CPUs for this socket.
I would have been really surprised, I bought the 3700 3/4 year ago instead of the 3800 because I don't see a big difference in performance, but the 3700 is more efficient in terms of consumption.
