I became an affiliate on Twitch and had a few questions about it. 1. Do I have to provide real data when registering a payout, and if so, who will see the data? 2. What should I do if Germany is not shown in the next open window for citizenship?
Sorry for the bad spelling hehe and thanks in advance
I recommend that you do not sign the contract if you do not want to be bound exclusively to Twitch.
But otherwise YES OF COURSE you have to provide real data.
You also have to register a business and need your tax number.
The people on Twitch who are responsible for this can see.
2. What should I do if Germany is not shown in the next open window for citizenship?
You can set everything where you come from etc.
What do you mean by "not tying exclusively to Twitch"?
The Twitch Affiliate Program is, if you take it seriously, a big marketing gag or scam. Why? Because it helps Twitch more than the streamer himself. Everyone chases after affiliate status without knowing WHAT it is.
The affiliate contract that you sign (digital) is a "mega mini" version of the partner contract. Therefore you have to register a business (tax) and also give your tax number, etc. Lots of personal data.
What many do not know… You are then no longer allowed to stream on 2 platforms at the same time. As soon as you turn on the stream on Twitch, you agree that you will only stream on Twitch. Restream services such as restream.io are then prohibited.
However, you are (still) free to decide whether you stream on platform X or Twitch. If you are streaming on platform X, the Twitch stream must not be active.
Also, they will at least ever see money from affiliate status. Key point: Subs. - Why? Because very few reach the $ 100 limit required for the money to be paid out. Not previously.
So you have to have at least 40 subs to crack the $ 100 mark.
And a couple of other contractual clauses. Twitch wins more than the affiliate streamer. The Youtuber & Streamer "Staiy" recently made a very suitable video. Recommendation! To look at it.
Then you can still decide whether you want to apply for affiliate status.
So you have to have at least 40 subs to crack the $ 100 mark.
In the case of the small streamers, that's probably 2 … 3 … 4 … Maybe 5 a month who leave a sub there, in practice. So you can work out how long you need for $ 100.
Is partner better?
Of course, the Twitch partner status is better.
But as long as you have this, you are not allowed to stream anywhere else at all. But yeah… Better in any case.
OK. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation! It really helped me!
