Twitch stream bitrate?

I plan to stream on Twitch with 1080p and 60 FPS, but I don't know what to specify as the bitrate, I did a speed test where I have 530 Mbits in the download and 50 Mbits in the upload and that constant, what would be the best possible bit rate for my internet speed?

Gr

Would take the maximum that Twitch allows: 6000 kbit / s

Ka

Thanks, that's 6Mbits converted, but I have 50? Can I not do more there?

Gr

Twitch does not allow more.

Edit:

Apparently yes, that's just a recommendation for the maximum.

Ka

Aso ok, thank you!

Gr

You can go beyond that. However, this of course also reduces the potential number of users who can watch the stream in maximum quality.
in that case you can test 10Mbit / s quite relaxed.

Ka

How? I didn't understand the last sentence? Isn't 6000 kbit / s good?

Gr

This is a bit tight for 60FPS @ 1080p with fast scenes. So for first-person shooters e.g.

Ka

What is scarce?

Gr

A bit rate of 6 Mbit / s

Ka

Why should that be tight when I have 50 Mbits?

Gr

That is tight for an image with no visible compression artifacts.

Ka

And what should be visible compression artifacts now?

Gr

"Pixel mash" in the video.

Ka

Why the pixel mash?

Ka

I have good internet

Gr

The lower the bit rate, i.e. The higher the video compression, the more image information is lost. With 60 frames per second and a resolution of 1080p, rapid image changes lead to pixel formation and "artifacts" if the bit rate is not sufficiently high.

Ka

But the bit rate is not too low. You said that Twitch allows a maximum of 6 Mbits and since I have a constant 50 Mbits in the upload, it should actually work without any problems

Gr

Yes, but 6 Mbit / s is a bit too short for 1080p @ 60 FPS. That is why you should go beyond the recommendation of 6Mbit / s.
Twitch won't block your stream if you exceed their recommendation.

Ka

Aso you mean in general that 6 mbits are too little for 60 mbits ahh ok and how much higher should I go in your opinion? And will that even be of any use if Twitch limits it to 6 Mbits anyway?

Gr

Twitch doesn't seem to be effectively limiting that. That's why I said you should just test it with 10 Mbit / s.

Ka

I can increase it to 20 Mbits with a 50 upload or not

Gr

20 Mbit / s is already very high, so many users on Twitch would no longer be able to play that in real time.

Ka

Would the golden mean be more like 15 then or at least 10?

Gr

Try it out first. Without knowing what it looks like with 10 Mbit / s it is now useless to discuss it. Depending on the type of your content, maybe less is enough. You shouldn't waste bandwidth unnecessarily.

Ka

Yes, but at 50 mbits it doesn't bother me, I just set it to 10, because I can't test the viewers themselves whether they see it or if I do a test stream net

Gr

You want to play online at the same time, I assume? Especially with WLAN, higher bandwidth utilization means higher latency in the network.
In addition, there may be other devices active in your network that want bandwidth.

Ka

Yes ok, latency is one thing, but I have enough speed in itself

Gr

Yes, but why sacrifice bandwidth when it doesn't make any difference visually?

Ka

Yes, that's right, I just tested it at stream Labs, if I set it to 10000 and then start the stream, it automatically goes back to 6000.

Gr

Hm, it could be that you are allowed to do more with partner status.

Ka

I do not know can try again

Ka

Ne works net.

Ka

No matter then I stream to 900p and 60 fps.
