Xbox controller no longer recognizes headset?

When i plug my headset into the controller it doesn't work, it's like i have nothing plugged in. You know what i could do The headset works perfectly with other devices

I recently had a very similar problem with the headset and controller (I couldn't speak). After restarting the XBox everything was fine again.

If it is not the headset, it can only be the controller - possibly defective or dirty port - or the XBox.
