Yet I plan to buy an Xbox Series. I heard that the hdmi cable included is just 1.4. Is that enough for 120 fps or not? And what about the delay between hdmi 1.4 and hdmi 2.1?

To what extent it is true that only an HDMI 2.1 cable is included, I don't know.

HDMI can transmit 120Hz, but not at 4k resolution. HDMI 1.4 can transmit 2160p at 30fps. If you lower the resolution to 1080p, 120fps are also possible.

New HDMI standards also offer new functions. You should be interested in the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) feature of HDMI 2.1, provided your TV supports it. VRR is the HDMI standard from G-Sync and Freesync. An HDMI 2.1 cable should be required for this.

There should be no difference in the data transmission delay area.

Whether you absolutely need an HDMI 2.1 cable now depends on your television and what it can do.

If you only have a normal 1080p TV with 60Hz, the HDMI 1.4 cable is sufficient. You will not be able to use the advantages of HDMI 2.1. The TV should only have one HDMI 1.4 port.
