No RDNA 2.0 features on Playstation 5?

How do you think the Playstation 5 won't have RDNA 2.0 features?

This means that Mesh Shader, VRS, Infinity Cache, DirectML, Sampler Feedback and especially DirectX ray tracing are not supported on the Playstation 5.

The Xbox Series X, on the other hand, supports all RDNA 2.0 features.

How do you think the Playstation 5 won't have RDNA 2.0 features?

I think it's ridiculous, because the Playstation 5 is advertised as a console with RDNA 2.0 based architecture, but it doesn't even offer RDNA 2.0 features.

This means that Mesh Shader, VRS, Infinity Cache, DirectML, Sampler Feedback and especially DirectX ray tracing are not supported on the Playstation 5.

Correct.

The Xbox Series X, on the other hand, supports all RDNA 2.0 features.

One reason to buy an Xbox console.

I also think it's funny that the Playstation 5 says packaging 4k with 120fps although the console doesn't even pack 4K with 60fps 😂🤣.

The Xbox clearly won

As far as I can see this statement comes from a statement from Microsoft that only the Xbox implements all features. It doesn't follow that the PS5 doesn't have ALL of them. Even if one of the features in the PS5 was not (STILL) fully implemented, Microsoft's statement would be correct. Think it's more of a marketing move.

Wa

You contradict your username.

But yeah, Xbox has an all round better deal. Not just because of the console, but above all because of the Game Pass.

Va

It's not a marketing move because it's officially AMD.

😄My name is meant a bit sarcastically

Wa

Do you have a source for it? I just didn't find any and all news articles quote Microsoft and not AMD.

This is Mimimi's second troll account. 😄

Ray tracing in particular is a point where the Playstation 5 and Sony screwed up. The Playstation 5 supports my hardware accelerated ray tracing. In addition, they probably rely on their own ray tracing techniques, which, however, do not come close to Microsoft / AMD's DirectX ray tracing or Nvidia RTX.

Pff what you're imputing to me here again.

Wa

For one thing, your source says nothing else than what I said. Neither does it say that AMD said that the Playstation doesn't support this, nor does the article say that PS doesn't support anything. What it says is that the new Xbox is the only console that supports ALL features. So even if PS5 supports all but one feature, the statement would be correct.

On the other hand, I somehow don't think that AMD builds really good ray tracing into the graphics cards. Nvidia is already a great pioneer, especially with the help of DLSS, they can afford to sacrifice a lot of performance, which is then brought back in by DLSS.

Sony only had a custom GPU with "RDNA2 features and more" developed together with AMD. Instead, they have given up desktop functions that they don't need.

MS emphasizes the full support of all RDNA2 features, because they want to make a virtue out of necessity. Since all games have to run equally on XSX, XSS and PC, they need the standard RDNA2 chip off the shelf.

The box remains a mini PC with a lot of FLOPS, but its options are still rather limited. The PS5 will be able to do more if the developers tease it out of the custom GPU.

The pure computing power of the XSX is somewhat stronger on paper, but the compulsory compatibility of the XSS with a third of the power will still give developers and users a headache. That will be a bad brake. See the halo demo from the presentation that had to be crushed again. The PS5 offers more potential overall.
