I got an xbox series x last week and wanted to buy a new monitor or maybe a TV. And my question is which is better WQHD with 120hz or 4K with 60hz.
I haven't never played with 120hz, so I don't know if that's a big difference to 60hz.
The series s can't do 4k… Hesenfalls not native
Can only speak from my experience as a PC gamer: 1440 @ 144 is, in my opinion, significantly better than 4k @ 60, since the difference in the frame rate is more noticeable than the slightly better resolution.
Especially when you switch from the RPG area to the esports area, you are much more likely to benefit from the 144hz.
He / she writes about Series X though
Definitely 120Hz. I don't understand why some people seriously play at 60Hz / 60FPS, just because of 4k. That only makes sense if you can get 120FPS on 4k. But for that you need a lot of power.
Contrary to all PC users, I claim that 60 is sufficient here.
And why is also relatively easy. Very few games support 120Hz and if so, mostly with graphical compromises.
So 60 at 4k is the best solution.
With a monitor you can of course still use the WQHD with 120Hz because these are not that expensive and 4k are negligible due to the proximity and size.
But remember with a monitor that you also need sound. The console has no way of connecting anything. So the monitor should have speakers or you should buy external speakers.
For a TV, however, I would clearly prefer 4k. If you prefer a big TV, that's clearly better. The more expensive TVs are mostly also 100/120 Hz TVs. However, the combination of 4k and 120 again only works with HDMI 2.1.
But you can do without it at 60Hz and 4k when playing.
I added the answer again.
