Xbox One headset doesn't work?

I have a picture of my Xbox One headset that I bought today. Since I'm not familiar with it, I simply plugged the cable into the controller and put on the headset, but it doesn't seem that easy. Does anyone know if I have to change anything in the settings and if so, what? If so, please answer!
