This question only applies to the controllers and not to the consoles.
Find it better in the hand, but unfortunately has no real D-Pad.
It fits better in bigger hands and I think it's great that the left stick is offset upwards, is more comfortable when gaming, because then you don't have to cripple your thumb like on the Playstation.
Although I (except the generation PS2 / first Xbox) always prefer the Playstation as a console, I always preferred the controller on the Xbox.
I fine it lies better in the hand and I find it very pleasant that the left stick is moved further up. With the PS2 / 3 I often had the problem that when both sticks were aimed in the middle at the same time, my thumbs blocked each other. With the PS4, the controller is now quite okay.
Both have advantages and disadvantages.
PS4 controller has this ambience detection, so the light and is for smaller hands.
XBOX controller is more for bigger hands.

I find lying in the hand better and endure more, and I don't like that the Xbox controllers have one stick on top and the other on the bottom.
