Can you connect your hard drive to the PlayStation with a USB 3.0 adapter? Or does it have to be a hard drive with a USB port?
It makes no difference - if both devices had 3.0, the transfer rate would be higher, but USB 3.0 to USB works the same way.
The plugs are identical (USB type A). This does not change until USB 3.1. (USB Type C)

In an external hard drive there's only the same as in a PC, a cheap USB SATA controller is enough to turn a normal hard drive into an external USB hard drive.
But is that also compatible? Because you need USB 3.0 for it. I ordered this:
You need at least usb 3.0 so that it is compatible with the PlayStation
USB is backwards compatible, you only have the slower USB speed.
You mean USB2.0? Ne that doesn't work when I try to format it says it doesn't work
Must be 3.0 I ordered an adapter for it
Can I? Yes or no?

You're welcome
But that's more likely to be because you either forgot to plug in the power supply or your hard drive is defective. The USB speed does not matter in principle.
Is it not that see because it MUST be 3.0 is mandatory
The thing has no power connection, the adapter only has 2 USB ports and a SATA slot
You're welcome
Where did you get that from? And what horsepower are we talking about?
On the PS4 (Pro), 2.0 works at least at the rear entrances.
The PS5 even has its own USB 2.0 port on the front.
Have a PlayStation 4 slim
It says it when I try to format the disk
Should work. I don't know now what should cause problems.
But it doesn't work, why should I be kidding myself here? The usb device must have at least usb 3.0
The second USB port is for additional power supply
What does that mean? Can't you connect anything or what? Have a ps 4 slim by the way
You're welcome
Why please
I've tried both, it doesn't work
Where is that written? As a message to the Playstation itself? Have you also tried the USB inputs on the back?
There are no USB inputs on the back of the PlayStation 4 slim. It stands when you try to format the disk. In the settings error code!
This means that both USB plugs from the hard drive adapter must be inserted into the PS4 at the same time
Yes will work.
It is still not possible please
What kind of hard drive do you have?
One segate and one Samsung
Is the?
So there are extra SSD's with USB connection where you don't need an adapter
Is it possible with an adapter? Have no money for ne 1 thousand ssd
