Hi, should I keep the Connect Box from Unitymedia or I prefer to buy the Fritzbox 6490 for the cable connection (440 Mbit / s download, 40 Mbit / s upload).
Or. Which router is better suited to play PS4?
I think times with the PS4 both routs clear.
We had the Horizon Box for a while and it was just cancer.
However, this was the only router that got a ipv4 and no ipv6 which did not work well at the time. But luckily he could not do the ipv6.
An ipv4 is at Unitymedia otherwise only for business customers.
Meanwhile, we have bought a private Fritzbox, Unitymedia had some problems with the establishment of this, but it works now absolutely easily and we have also kept our ipv4 address. No idea if this was the own router or because we previously had a router which no ipv6 could.
Personally I'm convinced of the Fritzbox devices and would not want to use anything else in the home network.
Thank you. Also had until a few days ago IPv6 so DS Lite. Have now synonymous dual stack switch so IPv4 & IPv6 gambling is now running smoothly. But had a fritzbox DSL with which it ran very well. Then now Unitymedia would have to run very well with the fritzbox
I can only recommend the 6490 --- especially its own free model is advantageous as far as the system dates, since one is not dependent on the provider… With the Fritz boxes you can also adjust everything imaginable and very important -> it works reliable and in my opinion the best what you can buy in the range router / modem / repeater. Only with the registration with the Provider one must become active at the beginning

small tip of me still ---> usually it is useful with cable Internet an alternative DNS server because the quality here is usually better… S.besten directly in the router set ipv4 & 6 https://1.1.1.1/dns/
Thank you. I do not understand that with DNS. Can that explain something in more detail?
And what is usually?
I also had DS Lite before. You do not have your own IPV4 anymore but only an IPV6 and get tunnelled if you want to access an IPV4.
This works with Unitymedia somehow not without problems.
Since I like to access my NAS or my PC while on the road, I also need an IPV4. Therefore I would give everything to keep the IPV4.
And yes I also think that it runs smoothly with the Fritzbox at Unitymedia, as soon as they have managed to switch you on this.
Usually -> usually
the DNS server processes your requests and translates from eg Google.de to the IP 216.58.210.3 … The faster the DNS server works the faster the end appears on the desired page… In addition, some pages are already blocked by the ProviderDNS servers and reached the site only about the direct IP. Therefore the DNS recommended by me is better:-)
How long does the conversion take? And how can you get a pure IPv4 or is dual stack just as good?
IdR = usually
Thank you. I just read that if I buy a Fritzbox for my cable connection and change the DNS, I can then no longer call my Fritzbox. Does it bring synonymous if I change the DNS directly on the PS4 in the Google DNS?
The pure IPv4 we got because of the Horizon Box because the no IPv6 could.
No idea if we still do not have IPv6 because we now use our own router, but I do not want any.
The conversion usually takes no longer than 24h but it took us two weeks because they had forgotten to put a hook and all but one guy on the phone were too incompetent to find this mistake.
Furthermore, Unitymedia is happy to something cross when they hear that someone has their own router, which is why we had our even checked by AVM because before at Unitymedia nobody felt ready to do anything because our router is so broken, they had as I said just forgotten to put the decisive hook.
Sigh. So Unitymedia meant to me already it is not a problem if I buy my own Fritzbox.
Of course you can call the interface with it:-)
It is not synonymous, but I must also say that we immediately on the 1st day after you own router was allowed to buy this synonymous.
Maybe that was why they had such a few problems because no one knew it yet.
Really? So I just read that way
Comes to the DNS at 1111 you can call http://fritz.box/ without problems… I have been doing so long:-)
Achso ok thanks. I hope the best for me. Am already for 2 years with Unitymedia the contract runs also on 5.05.2019 had ONLY problems with the gamble until I happened to have heard of DS Lite. I then called Unitymedia to switch to dual stack since it works fine without problems. Could not gamble for 2 years and basically paid for nothing 😂
Thank you. What's so different about 1.1.1.1 so with the DNS of Google? And who is 1.1.1.1?

1x reading
I felt the same way, especially at League of Legends.
And sometimes we could not call a website anymore.
Except Youtube, Google and Facebook, which went thanks to their IPv6 address always why you could narrow the problem actually well.
Unitymedia did not want to give us IPv4, so we did not get a full dual stack, only DS Lite.
Thank you. Is this also possible with the Unitymedia Connect Box? DNS 1.1.1.1? Then I try this time out if it brings me while gambling on the PS4
Find the internal Unitymedia now with dual stack while gambling really blatant good. Better than Telekom, much better. Have only been 3 days dual stack times to see if it stays so good but so far I'm very satisfied. If it stays that way, I'll take back the cancellation on 5.05.2019
I would rather try to cancel out a little discount ;-).
Even if changing the DNS server does not necessarily give you a better ping, sometimes you can speed up the connection because name resolution works faster.
I've already. Would get the power upload from 20K to 40K in the upload for 24 monsters for free and pay for the 400K line instead of 49.99 euro only 34.99 euro for 24 months
Thank you, I will try it out directly afterwards.
I also have to take care of the upload.
Although received from our 120k line 132k in the download pure stable, but 6k in the upload are a little meager.
Get 400K even 438-440K in the download.
Hi one more question: how is that when I change the DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 in the Fritzbox 6490, I would have to s.der PS4 and all other devices that are connected to the Fritzbox or even convert additional?
No, that's the advantage, if you if you set this in the router:-)
if you do not have ipv6
: 2606: 4700: 4700 :: 1111 and 2606: 4700: 4700 :: 1001
to forget:-)
Nice thanks!
I heard you can do with the Fritzbox on a VPN? Does this possibly interfere with the gambling on the PS4?
That would be relatively senseless for the purpose of configuring a… With VPN is about privacy / encryption / redirection… This is usually to load the latency of what would be suboptimal when gambling… Especially free VPNs to my knowledge, all garbage and good fast times 50-100 euro + cost in the year… I can gladly correct someone who knows more about the subject:-)
OK thanks. So if I change the DNS in the Fritzbox DNS 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 I do not automatically get a VPN? Because I downloaded 1.1.1.1 app on the iPhone and have since gotten a VPN.
DNS and VPN is not the same
