How does it work with MAC addresses?

I've been wondering for some time how I behave with the MAC address.

If I were to exchange a network card such as a WLAN module, the MAC would change.

But what if the WLAN and LAN modules are soldered onto a motherboard. What happens after the modules are replaced?

Will the MAC of the respective modules also change there?

Or not? And if not, where is the MAC stored? E.g. On a Playstation?

Si

The Mac address is usually wired in the module, but could also be in the chipset.

Ch

The mac address is a physical address of the network device, i.e. Network card in this case. And card or module, if it weren't for rose, it would still smell lovely or something like that. I.e. All the same.

So yes, new Wi-Fi module, new mac address.

Gu

Thanks peppie. I found an article in English this morning - and since lan and wlan with ps are not modules that are screwed but soldered, some suspect that this is anchored in the ps in the cpu. As weckmanu writes. I.e. New cpu = new mac, what do you think of that?

Ch

Just because it is firmly soldered does not mean that they are not independent assemblies. I.e. Probably not in the cpu after all…

the latter would only make sense if space, weight or electricity are to be saved.

Gu

Thank you for the information. Hmm Well, what are you doing now? XD May I ask you something else? Suppose I would buy an external LAN card with a USB port and plug it into the front of the Playstation. Could the system then think that this is the original LAN module? XD

Ch

Do you want to bypass a ban? If so, buy a new console! Because the ban can be tied to not only the mac address but also other points such as the ID of the cpu.

Gu

Yes, exactly, I was so naive to bid for a banned one on eBay: XD. Do you think the server could possibly suggest another PS would be at the start by connecting an external LAN card to the LAN connection? Quasi RJ cable into the RJ port of the external network card, USB of the network card into the USB port of the USB-RJ adapter. And then do I connect an RJ cable on the RJ side of the adapter and the PS?

Ch

Rather unlikely. But maybe you can talk to the support from sony.

another account, a firmware update, and the assurance that YOU are not the troll should be enough.

Gu

That's exactly what doesn't work. A different account does not help, F-Update also doesn't work and the phone call didn't work either. The last option is a letter to the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment in London. One that I sent a few days ago XDDD Since it is absolutely nonsensical to declare a permanently banned PS as unlockable, even if the PS already has a new owner who lives kilometers away from the old one and does not know him.

Ch

I would like to know what one must have done to be bullied by sony…

All that remains is to sell the console and get another one. But… Whoever buys them, and to keep silent about that would, in my opinion, be a mess. And then the question, what do you get then?

Gu

So I don't know. The previous owner also advertised her as "banned". Since I had nothing to do with the ban, I thought that as the new owner (who lives 100 km away from the old one) I could unban them again.

But I can't release it. Do not know why. It's just stupid. That would be like denying a car driver access to Austria because the car was banned because the previous owner did not pay his toll in Austria and is no longer wanted there.

Otherwise I'll wait and maybe I'll get an answer to my letter. (* Fingercross). Thanks, I will need. PS. I paid 71 euro including shipping. There are enough hobbyists and enough spare parts that would justify the price:

BR drive
hard disk
Cable management
Front and back housing part
1 used controller.

Interest? XD
