Do you absolutely need the Blue Ray drive with the Playstation 5 or is it enough if you buy the Digital Edition without the Blue Ray drive?

an

It is enough to play, but then nobody can give you a game anymore, or you can't watch BluRay with it. If you have a 4K player on your TV, you can take it without it, but as I said, buying games in the store is not necessary at first, whether you can eventually buy download codes in the store is questionable.

What does job / success have to do with it?

nothing. Use keywords that fit

google the meaning of keywords

and: that's called Blu Ray. Not Blue Ray

hu

Just for information: The topic words are there so that other users can find this question using these terms. So if you put "job" and "success" under each question, these questions will only be seen by people who are also looking for questions using these two terms, but who are not at all familiar with the actual topic of Playstation. Or people who happen to come across it, which is not too many at this time of the day. So: if you use this function in the future, you will also get helpful answers.

And whether you can use a Blu Ray drive or not, you have to know for yourself? The Playstation 5 is backwards compatible, which means you can throw all possible Playstation games into it. You can't do that without an optical drive. In addition, many use the Playstation as a DVD / Blu Ray player. Of course, it doesn't work with the digital version either. Then you are also dependent on getting the games from the store, but on Blu Ray the games are often much cheaper on various sites. What the digital version costs less, you can quickly get back inside.

Thank you. That annoys me every time: I want to know something & then just spit on a keyword / topic

hu

I changed the topics once, maybe someone will notice that with the right topics, you get more and better answers. If not… Your own fault…

So I don't even think Sony will bring out a console without a drive when you need a drive. Many players buy their games almost exclusively digitally and therefore do not need a drive. But if you plan on buying Ps5 or maybe even Ps4 games on CD, you will need a drive. I myself hardly have any games on CD and buy almost everything digitally, but I will still buy the Ps5 with a drive.

Gi

That you can throw in all possible Playstation games is not entirely true. You can play almost all Ps4 games (except for about 7) on the Ps5. Ps3 and everything below does not work.

If you want to make yourself dependent on the overpriced shop in the console, you can save the drive
