If you have a 4K player on your TV, you can take it without it, but as I said, buying games in the store is not necessary at first, whether you can eventually buy download codes in the store is questionable.

So I don't even think Sony will bring out a console without a drive when you need a drive. Many players buy their games almost exclusively digitally and therefore do not need a drive. But if you plan on buying Ps5 or maybe even Ps4 games on CD, you will need a drive.
