Is there also an underwater cell tower for ocean or sea?

So I wanted to ask if there's an underwater cell tower in big ocean too? Because this is important for some people when you have a long ship journey that you can still be reached on mobile phone everywhere. Because what if something bad happens (e.g. A ship slowly sinks underwater) you are instructed to call a rescue helicopter so that the fire services can rescue people at risk using helicopters. And that's why cell tower is also important for Ocean.

And if there's an underwater cell phone mast in Meeres Unterwasser, can you get an Internet connection via LTE in the middle of the ocean so that you can watch YouTube, Twitch or Netflix in the evening in the middle of a long boat trip?

And if there's no underwater cell tower, why can't they start building? Because that would be very important for those at risk as the only solution to call an emergency number.

No, it does not exist.

But large cruise ships have an (expensive) satellite connection to the Internet and are happy to share this with passengers for extra money

No, it doesn't exist, it would be useless and crazy.

There are satellites and radio for that.

Exceptions: On the coast, where cells on the bank can still be reached and, if necessary, in the vicinity of wind farms.

We're happy to share these with the passengers for extra money

The use is not necessarily free of charge depending on the shipping company / ship class / cabin class.

di

You pay for it indirectly ;-)

No, it does not exist.

No, this is exactly the same as on an airplane, there's an internet connection on most ships which is connected to the internet via satellite.

In the event of an emergency, the ship, normal radio equipment and also has its own satellite connection. So they also have a radio link without cell phone masts.

You can only use the connection indirectly via the Internet, but the emergency services can also use it without your involvement if there's an emergency.

From a purely technical point of view, it would not be possible to build radio masts under water because radio waves can't really propagate in sea water.
