Dear Community,
I need your help. I started streaming on Twitch about a month ago and received a notification yesterday that I was invited to the affiliate program. I clicked around there and immediately noticed that it was about tax ID and more. So I thought to myself, before I agree anywhere, without knowing exactly what's going on, I'll write here with the hope of being cleared up.
My question / s: What do I do if I want to become an affiliate? Do I have to start something or something? I don't want to go to a tax advisor now, because unfortunately that also costs money that I don't have. Can someone help me please?
Second question: I'm currently doing an apprenticeship and earn a small amount from it. Is it a problem if I do the streaming on the side?
I thank you in advance for the answers and hope that I will quickly find out how to react.
I can't say much about Twitch itself and the affiliate programs.
However, if you are earning money from your streams and intend to continue making profits, you should sooner or later register a business. As soon as this has been done, you will usually receive a so-called "questionnaire on tax registration" from the tax office, which should inform the tax office in detail about your commercial activity and its scope. As soon as you generate income from a business you are obliged to submit a tax return (income tax, trade tax and possibly sales tax).
As long as you are still in training, you will probably not exceed the basic tax allowance of 9408 euro, so that no taxes will be incurred. If so, it can of course be the case that an additional payment may be made as part of the income tax return.
