What is this Hdmi 2.1 about with the Xbox Series x?

Doesn't a normal 144 hz monitor work to get 120 fps or what?

A normal HDMI cable can't transmit 120 / 144hz, so you need an HDMI 2.1 cable and a monitor capable of doing this.

Very easily!

I hope you had a good day

The subject of HDMI 2.1 is a very hotly debated and, above all, inconclusive topic.

One thing is clear: With HDMI 2.1 you can use features such as VRR, ALLM, VRS, 8K & 4K with 120fps.

For many, however, the question arises whether you really need HDMI 2.1 or whether HDMI 2.0 is sufficient. Many sources report completely different things independently of each other, which makes the whole topic a lot more difficult.

For example, Samsung can use HDMI 2.1 features despite HDMI 2.0, which means that HDMI 2.1 is not required.

In turn, other manufacturers say that you need HDMI 2.1 to be able to use 4K with 120hz or generally 120hz.

I don't know what it looks like with the new generation of consoles, but back then when I still had an HDMI 1.4 monitor and an Xbox One X, I could switch on the 120hz mode without any problems. However, since I no longer have a monitor or television that works with HDMI 2.1, I can't rate the whole thing.

I hope I was able to help you somewhat. I know the whole thing is confusing, but maybe there's a source that sheds light on the dark.
