Xbox one goes out because of external hard drive?

As soon as I connect my external hard drive to the Xbox it goes out, otherwise I could always play with the hard disk. Started without the hard disk too. Would be nice if someone knew why that is

I would try the external hard drive s.PC etc etc reformat, evt then it works again, better than the same to buy a new one. Edit: Do you have the hard drive s.PC connected? If it works there, I would format it on Fat32 or Fatex.
