Microsoft Store or Steam?

I would like to buy Microsoft's Filght Simulator 2020.

However, the game on Steam costs just as much as in the Microsoft Store.

I wonder what advantages do the individual publishers bring?

I could imagine that I can play together with people who have an Xbox via Microsoft Store without it sounding like crossplay. But I don't know if I can play a game that has the Steam version.
Well, I also have GTA V on CD and can play with a Steam player.

If it is true that if I buy it through the Microsoft Store, I can also play with Xbox players, that would be a great advantage. Otherwise I buy it on Steam because I already have a large library there and can also use the .exe and see the game time.

I would love to know if I'm right with my Xbox player or not.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Microsoft Store and actually only use Steam. The only time I've used the Microsoft Store is for Minecraft: Story Mode.
