Looking for old video game?

I'm looking for a video game. It is already a bit older (at least xD for 20-30 years).

In the game you are a little man who wanders through space. Either from nintendo or sega. It has to solve tasks, and when it has finished, it may be in the next room. I'm not sure but it may be that there were portals there. And btw. It is NOT Megamen or Mario. It was clearly a console game, not a PC.

I know this is not very much info… But it would be really cool if you would write me a few titles if you know which ones to fit the somewhat poor description.
