Are PS4 games on external hard drive worse for PS5?

I finally got my PS5 and am currently installing the games. Now I probably have a known problem - insufficient storage space.

I still have an external HDD for my PS4. I know I can't install PS5 games on it, only PS4. But do they still use possible graphical improvements? There are some "PS5" patches like for God of War. Or do I "only" play with PS4 graphics?

Ma

The Ps5 usually works with a much faster ssd… I don't think that it can load the "Ps5 graphics" with an Hdd without what feels like 20 years

Ma

Hm, it's about PS4 games that have been slightly upgraded (better stability etc). Is it that serious?

Ma

Personally, I do not own any Ps4 (or 5) and can therefore not say anything final. But what I definitely know: ssd = MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than Hdd. It would probably work already, but have to expect long loading times.

Yes, the patches also have their effect when you install the game on the hard drive. Most games benefit from better loading times if they are installed on the SSD.
